Calculators

Five calculators for the decisions equity compensation forces on you. Each runs entirely in your browser, keeps your inputs in the page address so you can bookmark them, and shows its assumptions. Every rate and limit comes from the current year’s IRS and state publications, listed with sources in the tax data file the calculators load.

How these are built

The calculators share one engine. Federal brackets, the standard deduction, long-term capital gains thresholds, the alternative minimum tax exemption and phase-out, payroll tax thresholds and retirement plan limits come from the IRS and Social Security Administration publications for the current year. State brackets come from each state revenue department; where a state has not yet published the current year’s tables the results say so and use the prior year. Each calculator lists its simplifications under “Assumptions and limits”.

They are estimates for planning. They do not replace a return prepared with your actual documents, and nothing on this site is personal tax or investment advice.
